SUNDAY - AUGUST 02: ANNUAL SUMMER PICNIC

FOOD AND FUN WITH FELLOW CLUB MATES AT THE ERIE CANAL! Check picnic details below for dishes to bring, parking, and more. 


PICNIC ACTIVITIES: 

  • 11AM: Craft Class with Rock Doc! 
  • 12PM-4PM: Potluck, cut rocks with Dave's diamond saw, GeoClue Trivia, and tailgate selling (sell your jewelry, specimens, cabs, etc... bring cash to shop!)
  • Canal Boat Rides available for a fee  

VENUE & POTLUCK DETAILS: 

  • Venue: Erie Canal Park Pavilion - 5750 DeVoe Road, Camillus NY.
  • Parking: Must not arrive before 11AM & parking prohibited in front of the mural. 
  • Potluck instructions: Last names beginning A-N bring a sweet dish; O-Z bring a savory dish.
  • Club will provide hotdogs, hamburgs, sausages
  • If you have diet restrictions please plan what you need. 



Saturday August 15: Beading Group

1:00-4:00PM at The Clubhouse

Meet up with fellow beading enthusiasts or discover a new hobby with club friends! 

Requirements:

  • $5.00 Fee 
  • Must be a club member  
  • Contact beadgroup@gmss.club to sign up and receive materials list or request beading kit for $10 purchase

Spaces are filling up fast - visit our lapidary page for latest openings and program details: Must have taken beginner class with the club or at BOCES before registering for advanced classes.

Registration Details

Weekly Open Lapidary Lab:

Open lab hours every week Thursdays 6-9PM & Saturdays 1-4PM!

Stop In and work on your cabs, cut and polish some rocks, enjoy time with fellow club mates. *Must be a club member and have taken beginner lapidary class with the club or at BOCES to use the lab.

We‘re a club for people who enjoy interests in Mineralogy, Paleontology, Earth Sciences and the Lapidary Arts in Central New York! 


Our interests include: 

  • Learning about fossils, rocks & minerals. 
  • Rock Hounding & Field Trips
  • Educating & raising awareness of the geologic wonders in our region.
  • Gemstone jewelry design and creation. 
  • We offer Lapidary classes & Workshops.

Monthly Meetings at the Clubhouse

Our monthly meetings provide a lively social and educational experience. It's a great time to get together and have fun, find new opportunities, and enjoy presentations on adventurous topics by members and experts sharing their field of interest. Stay for our raffles or auctions and pick up a tool or a new specimen.  We also have a Junior Rockhounds club for kids!
