Why do we label our specimens? How does this benefit my hobby? What do I need to label my collection? Let us help you!
We‘re a community for generating interest in Mineralogy, Paleontology and the Lapidary Arts in Central New York! Our interests include collecting, identifying and displaying gemstones, minerals and fossils, rock hounding, educating and raising awareness of the geologic wonders in our region, as well as developing artistic skills in gemstone jewelry design and creation. We offer lapidary classes, field trips which give collectors chances to find specimens and enjoy the out of doors, exercise and time with old and new friends.
GMSS is a 501(c)(3) Public, non profit organization .
Our monthly meetings provide a lively social and educational experience. It's a great time to get together and have fun, find new opportunities, and enjoy presentations on adventurous topics by members and experts sharing their field of interest. Stay for our raffles or auctions and pick up a tool or a new specimen. We also have a Junior Rockhounds club for kids!
